No.7 station of Nam Ou River project in Laos were connected to the grid

On September 15, 2021, the two units of No.7 station of Nam Ou River project successfully completed the 72-hour pre-trial operation test, and the first unit successfully entered the 72-hour trial operation. The power generation marks the target realization of all power stations, and will start the period of combined adjustment and transportation in the whole River basin.

Nam Ou River originates from the border mountain range between Jiangcheng county of Yunnan Province, China, and Phongsaly Province of Lao PDR.It runs 475 kilometers from north to south, and is the largest tributary of the left bank of Mekong River in northern Laos. It is one of the energy bases that Laos has been vigorously promoting to build. The project adopted the design concept of “one reservoir and seven cascade stations developed in two phases”, with a total installed capacity of 1,272MW. The first phase of the project, including thress stations, is in operation since April, 2016. The seconde phase, including four stations, has been under construction since April, 2016. When all the 7 units of Nam Ou river project start generating, the construction of the whole project will come to a successful conclusion.
